             Born in 
              Paris, France, Michele Baldwin first came to the United States 
              as a Fulbright Scholar in 1956. She received a B.A. in Anthropology from 
              the University of Washington, a Diplome from the Institue de Sciences 
              Politiques in Paris, a M.S.W. from the Simmons College of Social Work 
              and a Ph.D. from the Union Graduate School. A skilled psychotherapist, 
              she first met Virginia Satir in 1969 and since then has studied 
              or worked with Virginia for part of every year. From 1971-83 she was a 
              full-time member of the faculty of the School of Medical Sciences at the 
              University of Nevada where she helped design, implement and teach in a 
              prototypical interdisciplinary program for health sciences students, as 
              well as teaching communication skills and family dynamics to medical students 
              and resident physicians. She is a former Fellow of the Radcliffe Institute, 
              has been certified by the Academy of Certified Social Workers as well 
              as the Nevada Board of Marriage and Family Counselors and has written 
              a number of articles for professional and lay journals. She now conducts 
              a limited practice of marital and family therapy, and is a trainer in 
              the AVANTA Network.
